LONG TIME, NO UPDATE!

FRIDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2008
Hi all,

Sorry it seems to of been an age since we last updated the news section on the website.

The band has been busy doing gigs here and there and getting in touch with various promoters in order to raise the band`s profile in some different territories. As seen by the gig list, we`ve done quite a few this year but we are focussing on bigger and better venues that get decent support.

The band`s latest album `In The Windy City` continues to sell really well. Don`t forget, you can hear sound bites on this website on the `Music` page.

This recession, sorry, `credit crunch`, has definitely had an effect on business with varying venues. People simply aren`t spending their money on going out and the venues are tightening the wallets on paying top quality acts such as your beloved Chicago Thieves!

The summer months (that`s a laugh as it`s chucking it down outside) saw a few legendary gig moments including our valiant trip to the Basingstoke Blues Club. Once again, the van decided to let us down with an exploding rear tyre on the M3 motorway. Three AA transporters, a large KFC and one mobile tyre repairer later, we took to the stage only 30 minutes late. Five hours from Sussex to Basingstoke is a long journey - how we laughed!

All of James`s on stage gear decided to pack up not long after at Shoreham Harbour Club. He`s now invested in a whole new rig with extras. Well, you can never have too much gear can you? Ask Bone (on the drums). He`s got about 8,000 drum kits - mostly in his lounge bless `im.

Various band members have also been persuing other projects, one of which is Dan`s Sunday jam sessions held every fortnight at The Wingspan Social Club (British Airways) located at Gatwick. Contact Dan via the `Contact Us` page on this website to find out more. Maybe you`re a frustrated guitarist in need of a rockin` good time!

We continue to try other avenues to play live and bring you a great live show and hope to see some of you out there soon. Keep this site and our MySpace site bookmarked to keep updated on all Chicago Thieves activity.

NEW ALBUM

SATURDAY 5TH JANUARY 2008

ATTENTION!

You can now purchase our New Album from www.CDBaby.com, www.itunes.com, and our MySpace site at: www.myspace.com/thieves21

The album features Paul Lamb from The Kingsnakes on five tracks playing some awesome harmonica. We think it`s our best album yet. Paul, for those who don`t already know, is regarded as one of the best harp players in the blues world and it was our great pleasure to have him join us in this endeavour.

Once again Paul... you da man!

From all The `Thieves – we hope you enjoy it half as much as we did making it – it was a blast!

Watch this space for more gigs coming up in 2008. Happy new year from us all.

IT`S HERE!

THURSDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2007
Hi all,

Well, it`s been a long time coming folks, but our new album entitled `In The Windy City` is finally here. The album launch party is this Saturday (17th November) and ties in with a special birthday of a certain singer of Chicago Thieves fame!

We will soon have an online shop so you will be able to purchase the album which comes in a beautiful digipack with 12 page booklet. There are 11 self-penned tracks and a cover (by popular demand) of James Cotton`s `One More Mile`.

We are all delighted with the results of the album. Each track has its own little personality and the overall sound is magic. We hope everyone enjoys listening to is as much as we did recording it.

In the meantime, we`ll see you out there somewhere soon. Keep an eye on the gig list and, you never know, this time next year, it could be Wembley!

Love, The Thieves

A LONG TIME COMING, BUT NEARLY THERE!

TUESDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2007
We`re putting the final touches to the new album now with the final overdubs being done this weekend (there`s not many - most of it`s live in the studio because, let`s face it, we are all extremely clever! LOL!).

The album is sounding absolutely fantastic and it should be out in good time too - the current album is selling like hot cakes at the gigs and we`ve nearly run out! Be sure to grab one at our next gig or get in touch on the `Contact` page to get hold of a copy.

We had a great time at The White Knight last Friday. A lot of new faces (and fair few regulars) made it a great night as always. Here`s to the big man Craig`s BIG BIRTHDAY BLUES BASH on Sat 17th November. It`s going to be a really special night with loads of great music and special guests. Watch this space.

In the meantime, see you out there somewhere soon!

IN THE CAN!

WEDNESDAY 11TH JULY 2007
Hello everyone,

It`s been a while, but we now have some very exciting news! The band has been busy in the studio recording all the tracks for the forthcoming new album. We recorded 11 original numbers along with a cover of One More Mile which can currently be heard in the set list. Listen out for some of the new tracks which we`ll be previewing at the next few shows.

We were graced with the presence of a Mr Paul Lamb in the studio, laying down some of his magical blues harp on five of our tracks. It was a fantastic experience and the end results sound great even before the mixing and production (which is currently underway).

We were thwarted by a power cut which lasted for most of one of the days in the studio which resulted in a band jolly to the curry house in a neighbouring village. All you can eat buffet for £10? You bet we did!

A great time was had and everyone played a blinder despite some disturbing smells coming from various members of the band. This can all be put down to the legendary Dave Searle`s `genuine` hot Bombay mix! We had excellent stories from the Bone along with some hilarious facial expressions in the drum booth! The band has also now cleared out most of the West Sussex supply of pork pies, other pastry related treats, beer, wine and champagne! Well, you`ve got to do something while waiting about (eh, Mikey!?). Check out the new picture of us in the studio on the Gallery page.

Lots of gigs coming up now. Check us out at The Railway in Crawley this Friday and the big charity gig we`re headlining at The Wingspan in Gatwick - more details on the Gigs page.

We`ll be back soon with more details of the album. In the meantime, we`ll see you further on down the road!
